Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on 14 separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the showdown between the French league winners and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to take a shock lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the final moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout win.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last thirteen years.
